Senate investigation launched into former President

Ethics Committee hiring outside investigator

December 06, 2017 - 7:17 am

The question before the state Senate Committee on Ethics is, did former Senate President Stan Rosenberg break any rules?

The probe comes after several men claim they were sexually abused or harassed by Rosenberg’s husband Bryon Hefner. The committee wants to know if Rosenberg knew about the alleged assaults and if they had any influence on state business.

The committee is expected to hire an investigator from out of the area within the next two weeks. The results of the investigation will be made public according to the head of the committee.

Rosenberg stepped aside from his leadership position while the investigation continues. He intends to return to the presidency once the investigation is complete.

A criminal investigation has also been launched. The Attorney General and Suffolk County District Attorney are calling on anyone with information to come forward.
