Granted there's not much to choose from what the eclipse is almost here I believe were about four hours away. From the eastern time zone being hit by this thing. The world by it and it might not either way we're here to do the show yet he speed on what is happening in the markets today. Sharks audio along with Mike Armstrong Tucker Silva run in the board for us. And Mike. Why are people so excited about this clips I know it's. This once once a century type of thinking this is that is every chance to. And nerd out a little bit and sees a that you probably won't see again for very long time why do people want to look. I've why why why what why do people want to see like. OK great it's gonna get dark I can see why do I need to look at what why is everyone want to look at this. Because when was the last time you looked up at the sun and saw something blocking the entire thing I saw bird the other day. Blocked the hole sun how David bird at a day it was a cloudy with snow on. Yeah that blocked the sun icy clouds to block this and all the time who care so yeah you get the moon blocking the sun. Wonder are at it this it come on this is a big deal that illnesses right about like it's cool but I kinda disappointed and I'm not down in north or South Carolina or watched since it I think it's pretty neat. I see people spending more money preparing for this than they do win a hurricane problems did. It's it's like it's that people lose their minds over the stood all the moves to block the song what we can do we have to go some were. OK one it's cool it's cool maybe I'm always get on board maybe I'm a little bit result it. But more sleep get on board I also I do struggle a little bit trying to remember which type eclipses which is I remember there was one like 25 years ago when I was late. I think it was like five or six years old note I was trying to figure thing. I can just get a little confused by reason that this one is so big it's not like we don't have these rain we have full lunar eclipse pretty. Also pretty frequently. This mean when tweet before but this is. The first once it's like 1919. It's going to go across the entire swath of states. That's what makes an impressive Vargas so our poll question of the day you've had over the financial exchange showed dot com and participate. Did you buy a pair special glasses for the eclipse obviously I didn't that. Now he's obviously I didn't okay. I think that you buy a pair of glasses for them and then you can never use them again down the barrel on sale tomorrow sort of environment I'll get targets and I just I he's been always an hour of 324. It's only seven years and we're left to go for that one. I think it's actually coming here to the northeast is believe I had that don't go anywhere it wanted to stay here why would anyone travel out of the northeast of its gonna be back here in seven years eight years nine years old. A great for a ninth time that much. Mike did you buy a pair these I didn't buy an obvious candidate hypocrite here apparently there are like lines out the door at some of the retailers that still handsome last night's game and that yesterday afternoon like people just dying to get yours it's Amber's gonna stick to the rain bands that I just look up real quick and a couple of those don't don't count on Tucker being very. I hit hit it puts all the wrong button yeah there's just winked. Like really hard I don't think get a tissue box a sump and look through a local whole match that's not how ports Mel. That's what I learned in preschool. How that worked out or if they thought that the ample and that that's why your radio. If in any case head over to financial exchange Joseph dot com. Vote in our poll did you buy a pair special glasses for the eclipse early voting says many people did but once again head over there invoked. At financial exchange show dot com. That's a sponsor news from after we finish out the show on Friday Steve banned in being released from the White House shortly after noon. And moving the market a little bit on that news actually. Yeah I did I think it's has more and more to do with pride just very quickly changing administration. John Kelly in new chief of staff obviously looking to. Shake things up and you let it band has been controversial for a very long time this seems like it's been a long time coming and perhaps. The recent incidents and that Virginia is more page. An excuse to make this make this happen rather than the real underlying reason. Two questions on this the first bad and obviously is controversial figure cute does the simple removal of him from the Oval Office and from the White House. Potentially. Let things quiet down a little bit just by virtue of him being gone. I'm not sure if it lets. Quiet down a little bits. I think 888. It takes away any further controversy that might be stirred up because. I guess you could say maybe quiets down by doesn't change the fact that beat him the president's lack of comments right after that event are going to continue to be all of the news media. And I think probably drop the majority of attention whether or not been and is there. Second question banning. Just about immediately after leaving the White House brought back on at bright part news. Do you think he actually has the ability to cause more of an impact or have more of an impact. Back to bright part now he may you know I think he was a little bit handcuffed while working in the administration that obviously was into after murdering administration. I found it interesting so who had been running brake park since then Joseph Pallet. That the editor in chief there treated hash tag war and I'm not sure what exactly that means it who is declaring war on and you know if if it's going to be. More of me. You know yes a sore point for the trump administration or whom that is directed towards. There was actually a phenomenal. Twitter a Twitter the red of that where you know yet hash tag war and then immediately afterwards everyone. Started posting the lyrics the Edwin Starr song war rule is so it. If we went well but I'm curious to see bears the kind of guy who I think probably did feel handcuffed by some of the restrictions of having to operate. You know directly in the public eye in the White House fair he's someone who I think is is going. To be able to pursue his agenda far more effectively out of the limelight and behind the scenes. At bright parts of something interest into watching bile counts he came out and say look I'm here to try to defend. Team trump from outside the White House now and he's going to put all of his resources. Towards that. News coming out of China today can be called great wall motor not not the actual great wall the great wall motor early interest in acquiring yak. Large Chinese auto manufacturer they specialize in suvs and pickups and so they're looking at the Christ are particularly. It sounds like they're pretty interest in the Jeep brand that division and you could see where that would fit in if there are specializing in the SUV and pick up space. I'd be really interested to see if this happens obviously you know Jeep is no longer an American known brand so it's it's not as controversial as if you know there have been buying. I don't know Ford's F 150 division but it's still you know it's still what it would be a big move for Chinese completed by. You know and brand is iconic Jeep. Do you find interesting. That China has not yet brought any of their vehicles to the US in any type of meaningful capacity. I I do. But I I've got to imagine that that has so much to do width you know the trade deals NAFTA what we've arranged here with auto manufacturing in Mexico candidate that we are. Likely making it pretty difficult for the Chinese to bring their vehicles to the United States whether it be for safety standards weathered the frown. It just use specific tariffs and things like that I would imagine the United States is actively attempting to keep that. It's interesting to watch and keep you updated on this story hoping to have some more clarity on it as we head through the week circling back to. Ketchup with over. Lot of rumblings over the weekend that Jeff Immelt the former GE CEO. No longer just on the short list to take over Hoover but now is likely going to be the selection it seems. Yeah it's a really it's an actually pick you know when it first came out I I didn't really see it I didn't really see a whole lot of synergies there I'm not glacier where his expertise is going to lend a hand there I think one incher sting. You know alignment that could be drawn here is. Definitely Jeff Immelt has experience in running a company where employees are spread worldwide. And you know a lot of different moving pieces needing to be organized and Hoover has a similar story they've got worldwide not employees the contractors. And there's a whole lot of coordinating that needs to be done. To get the company on track and I think that is certainly somewhere that you know could bring some expertise. I've got a couple questions on this and none of them are you know. Saying that Jeff Immelt is a bad fit here but I think their questions that yes to answer the first is over a company that is about to be going through an IPO in the next year to the Japan not to my knowledge does not have any experience leading the company through that specific process so I'd like to see someone made with a little more experienced he's got some questions answer yeah. Second question that I have is you know Jeff Immelt for. You know and he managed GE through a difficult time did not really. Oh let the company grow book has yet to deal with so many problems that have been left behind for sure so. I almost wonder you know dip animal hasn't been in a cleans business situation in a wild. Okay yeah in and I just wonder I don't know what Jeff Immelt CEO can do at this point just because he's been hamstrung for so long that I have questions as to whether or not he can work with a growth company. To grow them can he wasn't trying to grow GE U was trying to dig them out of problems. I guess he's trying to do the same thing here. Probably how successful was he had G yet dress or say how can you really argue that definitely it's extraordinarily successful leading G out of there pretty raucous issues that they had you know he was with the company since the early 1980s. And I mean just take a look at what that company has gone the last. Three decades. And it's really tough argument argue that this guy had a big turnaround impact that company and get I think Jeff is a capable CEO he's used his a Dartmouth guys so naturally pre disposed to like him because of that. But I just have questions as to whether the fit is right it's not to say it isn't. But I have questions about it this is not one where I go in saying. Slam dunk is an adult in the room and maybe that's all he had to have your say at the very least just cleaning up the got a clean house a little bit so getting some outside credibility and might be all that Hoover needs here and I think that's probably the biggest reason. Why they're looking in that direction. Let's do a quick break here we come back Adam Shapiro from Fox Business is gonna join us talk about markets and where we expect things to go as we head towards labor that's coming up right here from our insurer match dot com studios. While the S&P five hundred's up nearly 10% this year in NASDAQ up over 15%. Say you'll most investors are looking at the rest this year with maybe cautious optimism we're. We're joined by Adam Shapiro from Fox Business news talked about market. Adam thanks for joining us did you what did Beirut thank you could you point to one or two key items you know driving a return this year. Tax reform I mean I'm I'm with secretary and you came today in Louisville, Kentucky that got going to be Patrick. And investors are expecting it expecting some form of tax cut whether we get the huge historic facts on the all Bryant and Kevin Brady the chairman the out and you're ready have been talking about it the other issue. But secretary solution remains steadfast in heated getting them or. The end of the year and be yet Treasury Secretary is meeting with Mitch McConnell here. And that's the you know the leader the majority leader in the senate so get ready. That not that I looked at when congress is back on the Ellen roll back in Washington east wedding of the humidity you're watching. We are going to be racing toward two big issues that debt ceiling. And tax reform and your investments are and you know depending on what congress does decide that your investments bought that. And we gathered any further detail on. Tax reform at this point and you said there's still some what up in the air but we know that they wanted to have a detailed plan ready to go by September. Any idea Rick what's taking shape right now. Yes. There is a fight between the administration and Capitol Hill over the corporate tax rate medley administration originally close 18%. I you have Oren hatch saying you know perhaps 5% beat the Senate Finance Committee. You've got chairman Brady and the Republicans in the Republican blueprint which was put out over a year ago. Somewhere between twenty and 25% but the administration Tucker now it's pushing 50%. Not a problem at 84 that's a million dollars of the and years it's got to come up with. In the form of either spending cuts. Or war or something else. So that's one of the big fights the other issue and that's that the fight that people and I expect state. New York you little shook. California should pay attention to. Be the effort to repeal the deductions were state and local tax on Sunday about just it in context they think at that. And your property tax that that is alive and well and there are a lot of effort to do it is time round they try to do it may be sick and it was actually end up to oust. The Democrat in the house wanted to do it as a Democrat won this time around Republicans and that has a great deal. Backing for the Republicans and we could see that happen. And to me this looks nearly as complex as you know health insurance and you know on the care reform. What do you think happens if you know worst case scenario this doesn't get done this year or forgets it just gets scrapped until next door perpetuity what do you think the market three. I don't think I. I don't think it's good for the political system or investors if they can't get done because what sets the market news. We have in essence the we have a neutered government if you with a majority in the house and it and Republican in the White House cannot deliver this. Why. You know that's like having. You know all the you know all the money in the world. Trigger gold he can't spin it right bug that is. If you can't get something. Is sending a message not only investors but to the world that you'd you'd believe our. Stagnant here in limbo and what that would purpose in having. At a Madonna Kentucky right now where you'd be had NAFTA this anything else on the docket this week. I get the Federal Reserve that big meeting in this city that is the annual symposium. That. That reserve bank of Kansas. City actually. Host every year and all of the big names are going to be there chair Alan will be there's very important speech. We're looking for indications are about whether the unwinding acts we begin in September. It's about future rate increase as a governor Powell will be there from Powell whose COLT or. Reform but Fannie and Freddie Fannie and Freddie Mac. Marriott rocky and eat equal either it's all the people you'd ever been Hollywood movies but I would. Outstanding out of thank you for the time we'll catch up with the soon. You gotta. That is Adam Shapiro from Fox Business talking about going on in markets right now and toggle bit about the update on tax reform. If you do have the right answer you get for anyone else get a 25 dollar gas card to the gas station of your choice again what is the full name of LL Bean's founder. Texas at 68680. If you know the correct answer. Don't tell by Marist oil for almost five billion dollars Mike what's the update on this. Well I mean at the updates are finally starting to see a little bit of activity in the oil sector's been very quiet for a long time we saw one big deal last year were thrilled that shell taking over BG group. Amber doesn't like this doesn't go through its you know they're trying to pick up these companies are what they see as a discount. The problem that I have with all of this is just you're so entirely reliant on whether or not the oil prices move and that no updates at number of big bats that we're going to be seeing here in the industry a lot of people see value. It would seem to me that the stability that we had in oil prices the last years still probably lends itself to this kind of deal happening you know doing this deal when everything's falling apart because if people are nervous but. With prices having been in the forties to low fifties recently. I think companies to feel a little bit more confident about what they're buying yeah I mean you look back a year and a half ago and bankers were not making these sorts of deals right they would not touch the sort of thing is a press just freefall they're incredibly volatile and nobody knew there ago. I think you're right that you're starting to see some stability so as long as they can you know reasonably say OK we think is gonna trade with in this somewhat narrow ban people are going to be more comfortable. You know moving ahead on deals as though it's you know business as usual but it's a very different environment than we are looking net you know 34 years ago. Definitely it is time for a break when we come back we'll give the answers to trivia and also. Gonna talk about one of the rare losses that Warren Buffett is taking here. Time for Wall Street watching Mike let's first look at the broad markets. And general looks like we're seeing some red numbers out there are again today to start off. Yeah you know another rough starts that week Dow is down about 45 points. Almost quarter of 1% S&P down five points again same general area and the NASDAQ off almost a full half a percent so little bit negativity so far this morning. One stock that does seem to be in positive territory today Freeport Mac ramp up about four and a half percent. Why are they moving up. I think get a couple things here one you just seemed commodity prices move increases substantially copper. Silver all across the board doing pretty well in addition. They're expected to re gain access to there grass berg copper mine in Indonesia today. Which have been blockade of the last few weeks as the Kennedy GC with a company like this they work in very volatile markets but it does look like that it's going to be coming back on line. Company is doing well today had a really tough you know five years released it would that stock price. No doubt about it that is Wall Street watching that let's recap our trivia answer our trivia question just prior to the break. What was the full name of LL Bean's founder. And center free no obligation consultation that's 803934001. News today from Sempra Energy reaching a deal to acquire encore beating out know and other. Then Warren Buffett and the Berkshire Hathaway doesn't happen very often that that Warren Buffett gets out did on the company side tunnel with a few other instances in recent history this happens Warren does not you know offering and chew you know bidding wars on the company's that he makes offers on that. He had been negotiations to buy. On core for nine billion dollars Samper. Had you know big guys on the debt this company was not happy with the deal from the beginning voice that early was trying to get a deal together I think they had initially in nine point three billion bid in the way that did it and nine point 45 billion dollars is what this deal looks like it's close it's not often that you see Warren Buffett on the losing side of a of a battle frequently and you know he's sitting on a ton of cash I think he's sitting on about a hundred billion dollars of cash for his company right now which is a pretty substantial percent cut for 40% of Bob Berkshire yeah very substantial and he's looking to deploy it but you know he's got a very disciplined strategy he knows what it wants to pay for company if you can't get at that rate he generally doesn't. You know generally doesn't increase it's so. Yeah it looks like this is gonna go through it does include a 20770. Million dollar break up fee to Berkshire Hathaway which they're trying to fight in bankruptcy court will see I mean I think generally speaking those are pretty. Pre tied down tight when your deal with Berkshire. So Warren Buffett just by virtue of negotiating is netted himself 270 million dollars more I had a bad deal not a bad Monday good deal if you can get it. The guys with a lottery over the weekend. I did lottery lucky numbers I made three numbers so I get is that for now we're very fortunate sale or tourists seven dollars and dollars I hit three numbers is that going towards the graphics account. Yes it is our old beyond making that deposit shortly this week goodness invested in dollars that he made six or make products OK okay here here's a question to you made seven how many tickets that you buy just 12. Thus I made. You netted three dollars and a three dollars that's Jewish it's good you doubled your money and a Diego CA when moral power ball is Smart folks. Mike don't be missed I didn't. I didn't the good news that no one actually won the jackpot over the weekend and sued the expected jackpot is gonna be somewhere around 650. Million dollars for this Wednesday's draw. The lucky numbers over the weekend were 1719394360. Powerball thirteen. But no one had that full company's near the odds by the way are better than you would expect one in 292 million. How much more likely buried to get struck by. I I don't know exactly what you're probably more likely to get struck by lightning while being eaten by a shark and winning the powerball so. I'm truly cautiously actually wasn't that far off the digits were like 45 law. It's seventy tiger yourself nobody notices how you get oh man I'm hooked talkers but it's seventeen and nineteen the next one was five digits off and in the powerball and India alone where authorizes the opponent and actually was five to like you and best this is what happens in my head I've been close a few doctors are close you have to Tucker you have to take the Bill Parcells approach to playing the lottery years what good is your record and right now you lost. No matter how close it was it doesn't matter outpost that was it still an Al. Be careful man upper in the tech comes our sport. Her boss played 44 states DC Puerto Rico and US via some wondering which states is now feeling you to it's almost in place. Curious as to what those six states in play are new that's it it's good question we get back every dollar we left. We've got you taught Nevada it looks like Mississippi. And Alabama. Fan. And that's all that I see actually that does happen but I what to continue to take a quick look. A little bit later on what to talk to you folks a little bit about leader bank and the bear has talk to you about them for years about the relationship that he's built with down. They always have a horn of great deals. And in this week is no different actually. The head over to leader bank dot com right now or you call 8776917900. And ask about their new CD. They're gonna tell you it's for five years at 2.4 percent which. A long time since we've seen CD rates up in that range the minimum balance of a thousand dollars is required. To open the account but again their advertising right now a five year CD. At 2.4 percent liter bags a step ahead in the minimum deposit to open and earned that APY is a thousand dollars this open a mass residents only. And the penalty for early withdrawal including iris penalty. Is out there as well. Rates are subject to change without notice member FDIC. And the rays effective August 15. 27 team today coming out late last week Mike consumer sentiment going up. Yep so we hit pretty high levels highest since January. Not hugely surprising jobless claims you know continue to go down gas prices and gas prices early date for its resentment how people feel about. How much it's cost and drive of the summer's that was pretty epic. I will add these numbers were all measured before the end the violence in Virginia as well as last week's stock market decline is the first half of August so I think. That will likely change things a little bit when we get another read the second half but generally pretty strong numbers. I find it interesting that consumer sentiment tends to. Kind of mimics stock market performance somewhat despite the fact that. Almost 50% of people are not invested in the market. If a spouse enters in nursing home Howard joint bank accounts and joint brokerage account like investment accounts mutual funds share are they at risk and and and how does it vary for single individual. So if you're married doesn't matter whether it's a joint bank account our joint investment account. Everything. Is considered accountable for Medicaid eligibility and you know what else there that's not mentioned here how about IRA accounts from. IRA retirement accounts also at risk for the cost of long term care so it doesn't matter whether it's a joint brokerage or joint bank account. You gotta put all the money on the table. And start from there. Different however when your single and right. So when you're single they have a different rule joint bank accounts with a child you throw to hit on as a joint owner right they do it all the time. If you do that then the joint bank account is deemed 100%. That risking. Unless you can prove that that other person put money and we know they do it again you know look who Social Security numbers and look who's. Pensions going in there and look who Social Security's going in there. That's for bank accounts. But for investment accounts fidelity account of the world right it's deemed. 50% or pro rated based on the number of owners on the count of so if there's. Us spouse if there's one child on the air and 50% of that would be deemed. Not at risk so interesting distinction between the two. But advanced planning always the best. The financial exchanges line on FaceBook and YouTube watch Berrian chug discuss the issues of the day and see which one smiles at the most. Taste is a financial exchange radio network. Yeah. Dan's daughter off from morning star is joining us now you do a little bit of stock talk here on the financial exchange Dan thank you very much for coming on. It Dan the the ETF we're talking about today's iShares MSCI minimum volatility in global ETF. What I'd say. It. Yet some awful letter basically what it is that Egypt stocks. He objective organization stated I have about 25% less volatility. Two purple cap weighted index. And so this is buying on a global level correct. Corrects its globally diversified the F the united they chirp that the current. As well emerging markets. And so. Approximately how much is Ian US equities verses international. So it's split about 5050 might actually be a little more domestic electricity to 48 but that's pretty representative of the the broader global cap which I guess it's it's. A bit of a job does this fund do at actually reducing the volatility that you typically see because we know that. International markets can be a little bit more. Volatile than the US. Sure that's that's candidate the extra currency risk that they have but. Overall compared to you know its category Peters hasn't done a pretty good job it's been one of these multiple forms in the world march category that we track so it's lived up to. Its name. Does this actually hedged that currency risk or they just try to buy a portfolio that's a little more conservative in general. It's a letter they generally just look at Bynum more conservative portfolio so they don't hedge the currency risk on us. Typically when you're looking at something lower risk it might have a little bit higher yield than what you get in the based index. Is that the case here as well. Yet it is it's a little higher. But not by much in order everything is kind of you know starting to push the boundaries of being a little more overvalued these days but you get a little bit more than a cap weighted and are. One of the biggest benefits of the transition to exchange traded funds a lot of cases is the fact that they tend to have lower expenses than their mutual fund counterparts would someone pay for expenses in this ETF. So this one is about twenty basis points at the expense ratio which is is very cheap regular school yeah. Yeah compared it to burial costs it's one of the lowest cost on in the category so that's quite or. Really talk about it and that's perspective. And where do you see this fitting into someone's portfolio as an investor. So sensitive globally diversified we speak to could be a reasonable. No long term corp holdings because you're getting basically culpable. Global market one shot. Is this the kind of thing where Fiorina 2223 years old you can kind of start off just dollar cost averaging a hundred bucks and this every month there's something. Sure absolutely in the owners senses the need you know as early as an investment ban on so that's you know one of the better to have that sort of vehicle. Her goodwill dead thank you very much of the time we appreciate it and we will catch up with you soon okay I'm. That is Dan Solder Roth from Morningstar. Talk about the ice shares edged MSCI minimum volatility global ETF. And if you can't remember that just remember the ticker it is AC WV again that is a EC. WV. Stuck but sporting goods retailers when it's time either one of you went to a Dick's sporting good sports authorities out of business now right. They are fully closed all their stores or at least it gave in the process of doing sadly there are closed about is is mow Dell's still kicking around. I believe Syria was still around yell last summer went through Dick's Sporting Goods was maybe. Maybe June and I walked out with empty handed I think I just wanted to do quote he owes him for. Approach something golf related I don't know exactly I think it was looking a utters something like that but I just in dollars and pleased with any of the prices that's where this week or at least need a lot of their money that's where they're getting crushed what we're about you Mike. Had incited I am and cited expert in awhile I have been sad like hey. You know where we outage is not a little while both. A cup but I did go to like a smaller running stories in the monitors sneakers and buy it on line or directly from the company went to run range a running store and auditor issues there which is kind of contrary to use him. What we're ready Tucker if you're going out and buying a other sporting goods I mean look obviously once you get past the age of like 22 you're not buying new baseball bats and stuff until you have kids Bart if you need a pair running shoes or something like that you pair of athletic shorts or even do an online are you going into a store. No I mean if I'm you know I wanna try out the issue alone trial the sneaker help put that on the stork is my life awkward like sized feet so sometimes ninth it sometimes nine half itself. I wanna go on and actually feel it and be comfortable rather than order it online in the dual sole overturn. Process that I can't stand so yeah Florida stores that I think. The problem that a Dick's Sporting Goods foot locker is gonna suffer from is. If I'm looking for. Specific advice on what should I buy it for him getting into running. I'm probably going to a more special historically negate good advice and whether this is right or wrong I don't feel like the advice that I am getting it exporting goods or foot locker it is. Good advice. Want it any here's that's kind of a good point there is where I was going to go at this is you talk about what retailers have been trying to do to get people come in and generally it's okay you need to be able to provide some kind of service or some kind of an advisory role on what you're buying. I feel that the that truly experienced people with and any kind of sport whether it's golf whether it's basketball. They already know what they want a lot of cases and they may be looking for advice beyond what they can get tactics via and I don't know if Dix has the ability. To bring in the right type of advice to get beginners. You know comfortable coming in there. I think it's they would need is some sort of technological. Advantage in comparison to their smaller competitors like I don't know I don't play much golf but like a machine to analyze your golf's going to be able to recommend a club war. Something didn't measure you know you that way you run to Bil to recommend the race shoe for you I think would be a big advantage that would. Yeah not not worry so much that's you know let a sixteen year old kid that there for the summer is recommending which you. The big question I have on that is does that you know those machines. They exist but they also cost money here and is that drive prices up to the point where they're they're driving away their core customer so I I worry about the suppliers of Dick's Sporting Goods to write you think about a company like under armour who I think. Two thirds of their revenue comes from selling to companies like exporting oil and a lot of them are trying to do we know that and a Amazon and Nike avenue partnership we're Nike's own director for Amazon I think and these guys are going now I. I think that's going to be the future the other thing that you're seeing is a lot of sports and sports apparel startups now the cause of the advances that have happened with online. Which was on line selling. They don't necessarily need to go into retailing more to remember for the average. Company. Trying to sell in the retail is a whole different game and selling direct because when you're selling direct you get all those profits of you have to deal with distribution of course. But that is a far more profitable product and when you're wholesaling in the retail in and they are doing additional market so I think BB advances that we've seen. In Internet based selling and it there a ton of great dropped a present now for not familiar of what a drop shippers it say it's a company. That handles all of your shipping and logistics for you in without you having to go into retail seek and say look. I'm gonna run my own shop online you can go to you know chuck Shoes.com. And when you go there. On the and it. You know you you'll go there and buy something and someone else is gonna ship in I don't have to do anything but I also get all the profits I don't have to go into retail and and that I think is transforming things as well so I think it's a combination of factors there. But sporting goods retailers. If they've got some problem it's got to refuge for the record I'd probably not shouted exporters and definitely not chopping each shoes on just that super. In case you look at us as excited as you guys would buy sneakers I'm going in with the all of our ball on the big ball or brand oriental and overall I'm gonna be a 50% partner if it bull will CO that ends up going but sporting goods retailers definitely go through a little bit of a dip right now. And could be in for some prolonged tropic. That is all the time that we have for this hour of the financial exchange bear Armstrong remains out on vacation right now. Regarding municipal bonds a lot of you've heard about municipal bonds but you may not understand. Where they could fit into your investment portfolio chuck I wanted to talk about the different types of municipal bonds because I think that's a good starting base for this conversation. Yeah and in general there are two major types of municipal bonds they're what we called general obligation bonds GOs and then we also have revenue bonds general obligation bonds tend to be a little bit more stable is that not dependent on any one type of revenue coming from a state or city or rather their backed by what we call the full faith and credit of that municipalities are. So are there are ones that are more preferable to others currently Q1 would what would you consider one type of municipal bond. To be safer than another general obligation bonds tend to be because they can pull revenues from any stream coming in in order to pay. Those bonds revenue bonds on the other hands are typically coming from one source and airports revenue sports teams revenue something like that. And because of that they tend to be a little bit more unstable but he can also get higher yields on revenue bonds that's the trade off the case. Ari folks there's a lot that goes into the process. And the eclipse is only a few hours away at this point. Looks like in Boston Massachusetts the peak time is going to be 2:46 PM. Obviously. Carla A you know you're only a bed by around two guys got to get the map then. Yeah if they're a little nocturnal talker. And and and yeah it's it's been a pretty exciting. Event to document I guess I just I'm not as excited about actually looking at this thing I guess I just I wanna see it get dark I. I don't understand the infatuation with trying to look at the song. Yeah that's weird you shouldn't look at this and ever even. At any point technically speaking I guess when it's a full like actual clips. Is not here an immigrant or to be about 64%. Down in the place where it's at the totality it is safe to stare at the sun went it is a full eclipse the problem is it to you in like 99 point 5% and you can severely damage your sanity. Amazes I thought their days like these 3-D glasses guys in those two yeah it probably depress aggressor I'll be be riding around in those in back to the future. But it. 82% of people did not buy special glasses for the eclipse but it over the financial exchange show dot com vote or poll and let us know if you what did by any clips glass of us. By the way Wyoming's having some major traffic problems. And Siemens knows him credit for Chris DiMarco beat everybody's a everybody's going to Wyoming vicinity Colette why would they go there. I just have to park rate. And checking out because they're gonna get a 100%. The clips I guess I just a cool place to be and very day you. Have like three hours trafford is driving no way he had checked it out it's that bad news bad. You've I I was not expecting that I I figured you might have on there is ghostly go down to South Carolina and stuff tickets here at. But I guess Wyoming's an app absolute mess that presenting an area interesting. Talk about a report from the Wall Street Journal show that joblessness is following the most rapidly. In states that supported Donald Trump. Yeah you had a few states in particular so Ohio Michigan Florida Iowa Pennsylvania Wisconsin all voted for Obama back into twelve and trump and sixteen. And you saw unemployment rates dropping especially fast there now. The article that point to anything in particular that was done by the top administration to. Do this that it could have just been coincidence but it it's definitely inched I think part of it is that just those refute the states where unemployment was still particularly high. In the country and so as unemployment has dropped. Those states have been most impacted. Yeah I could see that men and the other thing that this report doesn't tell us about is the labor force participation Rihanna in the states yet it could be that you have more people dropping out of the workforce and that's why the unemployment rate is coming down. We don't necessarily know but. It has set assure you if your company trying to make it bad on them you know what. Where to open in new center where new open new business and you know a year here between a few states and you looking at one vs the other new looking at the next eight years you'll be thinking. Yeah might be better off go to Pennsylvania that I would be going to. New Jersey just in the way that you know the administration might treatment business I think and. Earlier better off go in Pennsylvania the future lasso and your bad example but that's the point stands the it's time for a little bit of a public service announcement this would come to perceive you on mosque. Elon Musk has joined more than a hundred tech bosses called for a ban on killer robots is the headline from CNBC. And let me tell you this is what is the thing I this this is kind of my acting like I I get really. Really nervous about. Armed robots OK and so. This this is my nightmare is a robot with weapons. That either flies walks crawls wins any I don't want armed robots. And Elon Musk is on board office. Yeah well I think we're probably all on board on this no no no there's there are an awful lot of people's there are an awful lot of people Barry Armstrong included. Who say yup I want drones that are armed at W herded on this show yes yup you heard it on this show. And now these are walking robots. We have plenty of drones that are army talking about artificial intelligence vehicles that are are yes and it is it is my absolute nightmare yeah I again and I think we're all with the no not ever what is it trust me Berry's not Berry is not with me but. Elon Musk is and there it was a group of well over a hundred leading artificial intelligence experts who are petitioning the UN. To develop some kind of treaty to prevent the development. Of armed robots yeah I've completely agree here did no argument here. That is terrified it's it's it's absolutely horrifying where they are just because of the age that terminator came into her pretty young when that movie came out probably had a few nightmares about it that's a little. Definitely crushed a hit a that's a several players. Face I I know how this ends with sky and we don't want to go down. That path where he talked about the eclipse a little bit stuck let oil we haven't done that yet today. Oil has moved back up a little bit we are down right around 46 dollars a barrel. The middle of last week we've bounced back up since then and in particular. You know you take a look at where we stand right now just shy of 48. Even though we've come down a little bit here but oil is still towards the higher end of the range that it's been in what why are we seeing it a little old me it is. I mean short term you did see one of the members of OPEC who has just. Continued to cheat on the and on the production halted its biggest oil fields of Libya. Halt its biggest oil field that is helping a little bit US companies. Have also slightly slowed their their output little bits that's in the short term help things out a little bit. It it shows just how volatile this can be. With the slight changes that individual countries and what's interesting is how this is all filtered into my gas prices. You go back a year ago gas prices the the tripling national average is about two dollars and fifteen cents a gallon today were 230 threes or were up about. Maybe a little less than 10% about 78%. In the last year here. But obviously it still has an arranged that I think is cheap enough that people still travel quite. Yet effort people still out there driving and you can see it out there right nobody's shying away from picker upper big eight cylinder pickup truck or storage of off the lots where do you think the the inflection point where do you think the point is now more people say gas is expensive the Internet over three don't it used to be two dollar ultimately it used to be we got above two dollars and people started saying. This is who is little little much I think by three. You think it's three dollars I think yeah at Bagram what are you guys think if you had to do that pomp and it was 275 next week. Would you really be like now in this is really hit in the wall of terror that. Susan if 275 is where I start to get a little uncomfortable yeah I mean repair four dollars. What might not too long ago collectors notified its it's true I'd I just I died I don't like seeing it up in that range but we do again have gas prices right now the national average at 233 and if we take a look at state by state through New England region. Mean right now to 36 New Hampshire to 28 Vermont to 38. Massachusetts 233 Rhode Island to 35. Connecticut. 247 so Connecticut once again ends of being the most expensive state. War. Just about everything we're continuing to talk about oil though. The the biggest developments that we've heard in the last decade have been about fracking and horizontal drilling it in all of those. Techniques that have given us access to new sources that were previously. Untapped war on discoverable. You start to see a little bit of a comeback just of your basic traditional oil for. I that's what you have to do an oil prices get this in ways when it was a hundred bucks a barrel these fracking ideas were fantastic and you know whenever we have to spend the dollars yet the ground and still sell for under ten but. Now they're gone back to the traditional oil wells and Santa are a wealth. We think there's a little bit of oil left in this old will that well that we drilled forty years ago let's go get every ounce of an outreach that is still way cheaper then you know breaking up the shale up in Canada again oil. Do we have any idea what the cost is of some of those cheaper deposits are there do we not know for sure. I think that they did they said that they can at least make the investment work with these cheaper options between ten and thirty dollars a barrel. Which is I mean that's. Pretty incredible so would you imagine if there are fifty bucks a bail right now on average they're still making a pretty dime. I don't know about the fracking and I think the fracking. The cost per barrels. If I'm Pam does a complete guess and I'm thinking sixty to seventy dollars per barrel to get to get that out of the to get that out and you know make. Usable yet the US production continues to while. Increase this point we're now over nine point five million barrels a day of a year ago we heard about eight point six so we've continued. Just to ramp up US production right now in particular. It's it's almost all happening. You and beat the lower 48 states are not talked about Alaska which used to be god it was kind of one of the the key growth areas. It's almost all happening in the lower 48 states. Imports in the US still about eight million barrels a day so we're still importing along. Just to try to. You know manage the overall demand that we have in this country still but obviously US production continues to increase to a good thing for US oil producer hot. Different from you know think about twenty years ago when you know you're saying you know well oil production in the US department gonna dry out and we'll never be a key player in November peak oil in the world oh man I can't. The peak oil in those one of those things where you sit there and say. Oh yeah that makes sense conceptually and then like you actually get into and it's no if if oil prices go up you find ways to develop new technologies to. And by the way which interest stings the the amount of oil that we are producing is closing in. On a record. Four US production so we're getting pretty close to that point right now even at these levels sixty dollars and fifty dollar is there it is the the cost curve has just been bit weighed down on a lot of the new technologies as we just discussed. The headline from CNBC is China expresses strong dissatisfaction. With the US intellectual property probe. I can understand why they're upset like they really don't have any intellectual property protections over the. Right yeah I mean they they do not and it's a big part of there stated overall economic strategy is to. Use the word steal here you're used other companies' technologies to jump ahead and the they do not really respect intellectual property and it's just part of how they've developed their economy I feel like we've looked into this several times you wouldn't United States as he opened these probes and they've just determined that it's not worth the political. Fight of dealing with dealing with the consequences. You know spending China words you know during that bush and and we've we've heard and seen this. Tories that come out of China where you what appears to be an Apple Store that set up on a quarter somewhere. And it turns out to have no affiliation with apple the company there's no licensing agreement there's nothing. And no one does anything about wrecked and it it makes fraud a cost of doing business in China because you have to deal. With knockoff sweet we hear about you know that the coach bags that are real and I'm here you know. Just about anywhere that you look you see huge problems there. And it it adds significant cost to doing business in China like that's that's one of the things that you have to factor as well as. Look if if your company planning to go over and try to do business in China. You don't was budget for someone knocking. Products yet and I think US companies maybe have missed stepped of the last fifty years here about this and not going into that market with enough. Caution perhaps is the right word of just you know setting aside a fair bit of time and money and security. On protecting their intellectual property because it's just it's it's very much in greens in the way the Chinese do business no doubt about it. HTC joining FaceBook in cutting their VR headset price BR just is still yet to take off it seems as I think. It mentions this in the article I think it's a very good point until you see one big blockbuster. I think video game I think that's what it's gonna take two wants the Super Bowls. I want I want a fifty yard line seat where I can turn my head and block walk around and everything. The second they have that I'm buying when that is yeah I I think that would do it but I don't think that's gonna mass market it to I I think what you need is you need. Teenagers largely to go out and buy these things and asked for some B video gamer something else that's gonna get an accent I don't I don't think the super wal. Ball would do it I don't think this would fly them off the shelf I feel it here's what's interesting so we we've talked an awful lot about the rise of I feel like the market for mass market video games isn't what it used to be though. I feel like so much of his gun mobile and been slimmed down it's not like back in the 2000 where a brand new console or brand new game came out and in every one participating it seems like. It seems a little more fragmented market now doesn't it doesn't feel that way. Her might not playing as many I just I don't think you're playing as much. Doctors you know the big release tomorrow is mad men everybody. A man football that is and everybody's got a problem by that. You know you got a couple staples coming out this winter and they always deliver on the numbers and or skillet. I think the difference is checked that there's a lot more people playing different games these days and there were saved fifteen years ago because of the advent of mobile so it seems. Much more you know that a lot different options to play video gators are much more diverse but I think there's still a very large and probably growing core. That spend a lot of money and let's. Let's talk about national. I was tomorrow that does that have any VR in your face like I can play as the quarterback. Now now no idea it would depth we have been now no way should get these beings moving and I think that that's a lot more closer than a super balls that up to thank or anti professional games I don't know is the game's only needs a 360 degree camera sit there and it's just Nate you know you're able to it and kind of watch you know just from one seat you know where where you would be in the stadium I think. I think something like that is relatively straightforward but. For whatever reason it hasn't quite gotten. You know like what are they waiting. I don't know it's that simple what are they waiting for I don't know if it's kind of a chicken and acting partially because there have been that many of these so bright. It is oats like. What what's the market for right now and I think that's part of the problem is you start to see. You know what's going on here but I don't think the cost prohibitive you think about how much somebody spends on likened news Sony PlayStation Xbox console to play nine now. New right now than a game what are what are they when they can write them out that or. 600 close at 500 that's what one of these VR headset of Regina this is just the headset during the headset and the can't understand but I mean you know I wouldn't you know offered something he'd like this new technology I was thinking thousand bucks fifteen about it. Whether their few hundred dollars to use it for new cool technology just don't think the content has come out exactly. Like I still like duck on. We need to do that you give me the original duck pond game on you if you did a VR adaptation. Only sixty dot I would be right there but just record team with a price struck with the HTC. I still wanna go to one no no design content like Mike said there's no content I have a hands about the Google pixel I've I had a phone. At 650. Box guys series that these were ever used. Yes I used a lot anyway and then there's just I don't know I've used for price six months they've put it online news content there are those really cool swimming with sharks. When drive. If you like. Charged by sharks in this in the ocean it's critical awful if I have a cell vehicle is how you know that you don't have enough excitement in your life when you're playing VR shark games object and there yourself daily school go outside it was so go outside if it was around Christmas there's an eclipse the right man twenty degrees shovel. Mike how do you odds do you use any of the thumbprint. Things to get in your phone to fingerprint scans to Renault is a thumbprint in their phone is this guy used to have. You do you do to Korea I do as well that the next wave of technology to make logging into anything from your phone go into work it in your car easier. Is going to be facial recognition to now luck guy. So pretty much all you have to do is pay its its like minority report you what your screen and all of a sudden boom your phone opens up and is ready to go lava. Mike so I like this to about a decade ago I was working for a group as in tourney for the fidelity center for applied technology and are looking at this replace him the badges and things like that to get into secure areas at the company. What they found was that it worked in some very high percentage of men. And just failed across the board with wooden and there was an app you want. They theorize there is because. And more changes to their parents so. Make up Angel hair styles different things like that made it more difficult time for the technology to adapt to woman's face it did an attack interest in credibly make sense like. I generally look the same because I have no hair and you know I am what I am. Obviously if if I've had here you could change you know I could do this and that and everything. Which takes a protective. Equipment but what which part accumulating are you being what you are the I I I have a lot of faults so it's it's not hard to find them pick but. I do like the idea of moving more towards facial recognition day I think it's something that. You know it's it's more unique it its its not something like a password that some cooking gas its pay you have to that's partly. Have that person or secure. What I do have a question about in Hampshire their ways to stop this what's to stop someone from just holding a picture of me in front of the fall. And that's a good question. You know sales records and so that's my first question is are they thought of that too though. I would hope so I'm sorry there's a lot of Smart people doing a lot of Smart things here I would hope that it's not something like installed a Polaroid of late my buddy you know get into his ball does not sure why this is any safer more secure. For at least the phone then just using your imprint or maybe needs to be addition to a bad I don't see why it's and I can do an additional might be something pages of that do the thumbprint and the face there on the back might so I had never used. Apple phones isn't it weird different analogies incensed that they ought to Randle had. I think what that I had a recognition as I've ever heard of Samsung. And I'm. I think I think one of those had facial recognition instead of them didn't work now I'd turned off after week and packed them but yeah I get my my one concern is hey how do you stop someone who's holding a picture and in impersonating with you think that they were to have some sort of a sense as to it dimension on a face as opposed to flat surface on a photo. You would hope so pure hope so but big like you've seen companies may like dumb mistakes before apple specifically if you that would apple maps first came out hit Soria got so great great turned off Google that great great story about the Atlantic Ocean yet. The first time that I used so I was at a wedding down in Rhode Island and I was coming back Mitt. And I really want to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast just the I'd aids is one of my guilty pleasures like the touch on that later but go on cricket at the so I had I put it in and I knew I was like somewhere around the site put it into apple maps and it says okay it's gonna be 25 minutes land like a great and it it looked like was kind of in the ballpark so fine. I end up on this cold this act outside someone's house with it telling me that the Cracker Barrel is in their basement or something did you track. I'd knock jock or is that they told me that they didn't do breakfast excuse me mr. barrel up. If it didn't work but he's like newspaper and I'll tell in this eggs over a if if if apple can tell me if there's a Cracker Barrel in someone's basement. I'm not sure I completely trust them with facial recognition technology like you gotta walk before you can run right so cents I I'm optimistic. But also cautious of cautiously optimistic would be the right. Let's talk a little bit about insurer match OK talk to you an awful lot before. Tucker let's talk a little bit about the top box office moved from the last weekend did you see that hit man's body guard Noelle. Now I saw the trailer for it looked decent putt rotten tomatoes disagrees getting a 39%. So there is. Not a great movie and only real and one million dollars over the weekend what about Annabel creation. No it scares me. I don't lakes here in movies I don't care pastor recite an entirely been surprised at all like scary dole is a huge following I got a surprises in my life for that I don't need to go to a movie. To see more yeah. And TV it's a new commercial for these movies I have never received it must have a mess that's alt a following it's getting good reviews actually 67% runs smears riches freshly about Logan walked. That's getting really. Good reviews and when asked about it so that's it's basically these two Brothers. Try to rob. Some sort of a NASCAR type race or something like that. I don't know but it's getting rave reviews 93% rotten tomatoes all the critics love it. And only reeling and eight million dollars and in their movies that Channing Tatum. Pointing a crank and Adam driver from the Star Wars Felix the new ones. Don't hurt staying up pretty strong coming in fourth place with no six point seven million that they've now done four odd Dunkirk just shy of 400 million dollars while. There one of our offer movie that was budgeted at a hundred yet the other division they're in pretty decent shape to be able to turn nice little profit on that one obviously not as big releases some of Christopher Nolan movie's most notably dark nitrogen. But still pretty pretty good for. I think people know what Dunkirk about. I think. In my wrong I mean before the movie did you know what I don't know Kirk went to Google jags escape from Dunkirk notes I don't know if it was called. Feature if people understood edges don't know a lot of people knew. What the battle of bunker was but still sitting there in fourth place right now down your way you guys if you haven't seen and listening out there goes he Dunkirk and treat yourself to an IMAX what to Sonoma extra five bucks I think it is protect itself worth every penny it's just an experience it's only an hour forty minutes so. Hollywood and apple trying to put together a plan to get movies out on Apple's servers. Only a couple weeks after their own theaters movie theaters not happy about is this to be great for consume. It would be bad man I would be terrified if I were the owner operator of movie theater. There's a big push for this. Aid in the days are gone where you really want to go see a movie theaters for the big screen experience that once got their home theater setup yes you know good audio good visual and it's they'd rally to sit. Comfortably in their home with the family friends and watch a movie. This could be great for consumers but no and I think you would see NASA bankruptcies in the in the industries. Here's a question for you let's say that let's say that you it seemed a releases for movies in theaters Anne's at home. Which would you pay to watch one at home the data it's a new movie the I about the same. Pretty steady even a little bit NAND. So like that there's there's one cost is innocuous they were how many people watching your home because their document echoes some good high behind the couch if you like took you know what. How much would you pay to watch a movie in your home the day it's released just for one movie what com. Point box. Yeah between twenty and thirty. I don't know if I would pay for. Really so what would you mean you were just go to the theater or you were just when I think I would bother I think I would either go to theater yet or wait until was free because my general rule of thumb is look. If if you gonna charge me twenty dollars to see it at home right now. Why wouldn't I just wait two months now and will be for. Does the same screw it did you see you see what what what I'm paying for when I go to the movies it's the screen is designed with his book I've got a great TV at home but it still does like. Dunkirk at home would not be the same as Dunkirk and stick her in in a theater under the same as doctor can actually be really close to anchored and I don't I don't know. I I I just I still think that there is something to be said for the theater going experience for the right movies not pearl. OK you got a boss baby and you just hate yourself no matter where you see it but it. Or something like Dunkirk. There is I'd I don't know if I'd hate to see that at home. Dollar yacht that. I would go to the movies here for because it's an experience down you feel like you're like there and it hits the screen is huge to sound as. Or a belief of giving and other examples so my my wife and I were. This is one of our guilty pleasures were huge fans of the fast in the fears tonight and I turned my wife loves Vin Diesel which is why matter. The but. One of the things that you get when you go to see these movies we always go seemed to the weekend that they come out very. Because the theatre if it's almost like a sporting event like people were cheering and like you we're talking to each other and it is it's different from watching just a normal movie and so that's something that you can't get at home necessarily yeah unless you spent the entire movie on Twitter just arguing with people. So I think. I'm interested to see where this business model goes but I I don't know I would pay for a movie at home I think you got to talk to those people that are going and seeing the newest releases you know. People that are going and seeing movies once a month I think it was the PP got asked about everything is putting him as people would spend money. Could be it ate it could be interesting and it maybe I'm off base on this let's take a break here and coming back. Expected to continue next month any news coming out about the status on these I didn't personally see anything that I couldn't sick could considered good news for US manufacturing. If anything I think you sell some news as can be very difficult to make any progress on a lot of different subjects what what are the biggest issues being discussed right now where we're we're to the biggest hang ups seem to be well the US goal is there a few mean. Goals here reduce the US trade deficit prevent currency manipulation. Favorite US companies and government contracts. And rework rules governing arbitration panels that isn't it for stated goals but really they're going into this negotiation saying we want to America's first. You're gonna have a very difficult time convincing the Canadian Mexican government that are yet we should partner. Let's talk a little bit about that the trade deficits or is that this is something that is brought up. An awful lot is look we're running this huge trade deficit. And there's a good debate to be had about whether or not the trade deficit here's a good or a bad thing and I think oftentimes. You know it's it's. Played out that oh either it's inevitable that you can't change it or that it has to be you know a bad thing it's not necessarily the case. No side I don't think that. The trade deficit needs to be seen as this. Horrible. You'd blight on society. But. Over time if you have a continued massive trade deficit. Then. That can lead to a certain spark really hurting the economy if something else hits you at the same time as you're experiencing massive trade deficit. Then CIA can be tough to continue your economy. Here's one of the things that I often come back to if someone and I'll use the example of China because there well known. Should be effectively over the last decade. Dumping steel dumping aluminum in and hurting American producers. At the same time but if someone wants to sell you a global market value. My general thought is you take that good OK if someone comes due and says look I've got this computer that I'm gonna is selling for fifty dollars. But someone else selling it for 2000. You take the fifty doll OK and I think partly you know we see this. All in a lot of cases where there's this feeling that old they're not playing by the rules that situation and they're not. But it also makes it cheaper for you to run your businesses in the US that use those imports your absolutely right. The issue is that I think most people would buy into is. Yes they can do that can toss steal and the marketed as price and that might put. US providers and world providers at a business the problem is when China's the only name left in the game and suddenly the US companies can't go back air and that's fair so for national security reasons and so forth it's understandable let's talk about.
