English conductor Sir Andrew Davis is joined by American violinist Joshua Bell in Brahms's evergreen Violin Concerto, written in 1878 for the great Joseph Joachim. Opening this diverse program is Debussy's Prelude to The Afternoon of a Faun, one of his most characteristic and popular scores. Stravinsky described his 1945 Symphony in Three Movements as a reaction to the events of the Second World War. Its rhythmic vitality and orchestral clarity make it an archetype of neoclassicism.

Legendary French-Armenian composer, virtuoso pianist, singer, score-writer, arranger, conductor, director, and producer MICHEL LEGRAND will be playing a rare and intimate Boston engagement. He will be joined by MARIO PELCHAT, whose velvet, sexy voice is familiar from the musical “Nôtre Dame de Paris,” and accompanied by a quartet of brilliant musicians including CATHERINE MICHEL (harp), a soloist with Opéra de Paris. A Christmas Celtic Sojourn With Brian O'Donovan has an all-star cast including Karine Polwart (formerly of super group The Battlefield Band), Christy O'Leary (formerly of Boys of the Lough), fiddlers Liz Carroll and John Doyle — and, of course, Solas founding member and musical director Seamus Egan — will join the Harney Academy of Irish Dance along with Kieran Jordan and an array of spectacular dancers in this annual holiday event.
