In Belleville, IL, the 8-and-under Cahokia Quarterback Club football team knelt for the National Anthem before thier game.  The choice to kneel was supported by parents and by the coach, Orlando Gooden:  “One of the kids asked me if I saw (people) protesting and rioting in St. Louis. I said yes; I said, ‘Do you know why they are doing it?'”  And one player said "Because black people are getting killed and nobody's going to jail.”  Coach Gooden saw this as a "Good teaching moment."

The whole thing raises, among other questions, whether or not 8 year olds truly understand what is happening, and is it the right move to politicize children this way?
