WATCH: Rachel Maddow claims she has Trump's tax returns
Yesterday, Rachel Maddow hyped up her show stating she has President Trump’s tax returns from 2005. Maddow got the tax returns from David Cay Johnston who claimed an unknown person sent him the top two pages from Trump's 2005 IRS return. The big news was Trump made $253 million that year but wrote off all but 150 million as a loss carried over from a previous year. Before Maddow’s show aired the Trump administration released a statement saying, “Mr. Trump paid $38 million dollars even after taking into account large scale depreciation for construction, on an income of more than $150 million dollars, as well as paying tens of millions of dollars in other taxes such as sales and excise taxes and employment taxes and this illegally published return proves just that.”
Today Trump tweeted, "Does anybody really believe that a reporter, who nobody ever heard of, "went to his mailbox" and found my tax returns? @NBCNews FAKE NEWS!"
