1,200 nurses are set to begin a strike this morning at Tufts Medical Center. Negotiations between the Massachusetts Nursing Association and the hospital have been ongoing since April of 2016 and reached an impasse this week. The nurses, who planned a one day strike were told that they would be locked out for four days. Over 300 replacement nurses are ready to go to replace them during this time. The nurses, who believe that pay and pension are their main concerns, say that they are paid less than nurses at other hospital, and that staffing issues are arising due to losing talent to other institutions. Tufts has also added security and police to help address any issues this morning.
