Starting next year, the Boys Scouts of America have voted to begin enrolling females in the Cub Scouts. The plan is that they will eventually be able to rise in the ranks as far as Eagle Scouts.

The unanimous decision by the Board of Directors was explained as a response to "years of requests from familes of girls" but has received harsh criticism from social media since the announcement was made.

Since 2000, the Boys Scouts has lost about one third of its total membership. The Girls Scouts of America, which opposes this decision, have hinted that this decision is about boosting membership numbers at their expense rather than promoting inclusiveness.
