Lisa Murkowski has launched a write in bid to hang on to her senate seat after having lost the GOP nomination to Joe Miller. She's making a "people's seat" argument, claiming that the Tea Party is an outside force trying to snatch the seat away from Alaska voters.
A CNN-Time poll Wednesday showed Sen. Lisa Murkowski surging as a write-in candidate in the Alaska Senate race against Joe Miller, an attorney and tea party favorite who won the GOP primary. The poll showed Miller at 38% and Murkowski at 36% –within the poll’s margin of error – and Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams, the Democratic candidate, trailing with 22%.
Murkowski's correct, of course, that the Tea Party Express does come in from California an pump money into senate races with great success. On the other hand, the people of Alaska were robbed of democracy when Lisa's father appointed her to the senate seat.
