Seniors Support Perry on Social Security
Rick Perry's lead in the GOP race hasn't been damaged by his strong statements on Social Security.
Have seniors been scared off by Mr. Perry’s provocative language about Social Security being a failure and a Ponzi scheme? Not at all.
Registered Republicans over 50 favor Mr. Perry over Mr. Romney by 41% to 22%. Among those over 65, Mr. Perry leads Mr. Romney by a whopping 3-to-1 margin.
While Romney's strategy of attacking Perry's electability has failed miserably, he's still doing much better than Michele Bachmann, who has collapsed to irrelevance.
The poll also underscored the plunge in support for Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann. Among a field that also included the name of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Ms. Bachmann won the support of just 4% of registered Republicans, down from 10% last month and 12% in July.
