Scarborough: Game, Set, Match

I disagree with Joe Scarborough, who says the Democrats won a clear victory with their convention, because the two parties had different goals. The GOP convention was targeted at mainstream swing voters, the Democrats were trying to excite their base, convinced that they can't win new voters.

We were 10 minutes into the president's speech last night... and I just sat there thinking, 'game, set, match, the Democrats have trounced the Republicans in these conventions...

Even if Joe is correct, the real storyline of the conventions was stomped on by the Friday jobs reports, which woke everyone up with a slap to the face reminder that it's the president's failure to turn the economy around that defines this election.
