This could be the best interview with Secretary Rice ever.Condi explains the Bush administration's decisions on enhanced interrogation techniques as she gets dogged by a student at Stanford. It's good to get her explanation on the record."We did not torture anyone," is a great moment, as is "No, dear."But I don't like her badgering the student for not knowing everything. This strikes me as being a Barney Frank tactic. People who are government "servants" obviously know more of the details of what they do than a questioning citizen is likely to know. They have an obligation, nevertheless, to answer questions and explain decisions without getting snarly and defensive, and without using their superior knowledge to diminish the questioner.
