Rangel's expulsion speech focuses on his bogus claim that none of his malfeasance was about self-enrichment. What's most striking is the ego - the need to let his comrades know that despite having faced censure, nothing that happens to him in congress or elsewhere can ruffle his feathers because of what he endured serving in the Korean War.

"In my heart I truly feel good," Rangel said. "A lot of it has to do with the fact that I know in my heart that I am not going to be judged by this Congress, but I am going to be judged by my life."
