GOP pundit Alex Castellanos says the vice president did his job in last night's debate because he got the base, depressed over the president's sullen performance last week, charged up once again. And, Paul Ryan did his job, communicating the conservative agenda without seeming scary.

If you read the transcript I think its dead even... but if you put them all together and get television... it was almost unprecedented and hugely condescending...

John Tierney fights back against the onslaught of commercials highlighting his family's troubles. With voters knowing that his wife copped a plea and did time to keep the scandal under the radar, it's hard to imagine this approach will get him far. But what else can he do besides play victim to create some goodwill?
Tierney's ad is dishonest, of course, but it's nothing compared to blur the lines between Richard Tisei and the Tea Party. This ad's from the Democrats in Washington.
