Occupy Movement Gets Violent

Why does Lester Holt, reporting on the violent anti-bad economy protests in Europe, call the Occupy Wall Street movement an anti-violent one on its first big day of violence?

...but it was in Rome that things turned violent with reports of at least 70 injured, cars set afire and banks firebombed. ... This day of global outrage was born of the non-violent Occupy Wall Street movement that started here in New York.

If the protests in Europe, born of Occupy Wall Street turn violent, then the movement owns the violence. And regarding that 54% approval rating for the OWS movement, Time Magazine offers a good lesson regarding how to fix results when polling.

Q11. IN THE PAST FEW DAYS, A GROUP OF PROTESTORS HAS BEEN GATHERING ON WALL STREET IN NEW YORK CITY AND SOME OTHER CITIES TO PROTEST POLICIES WHICH THEY SAY FAVOR THE RICH, THE GOVERNMENT’S BANK BAILOUT, AND THE INFLUENCE OF MONEY IN OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM. IS YOUR OPINION OF THESE PROTESTS VERY FAVORABLE, SOMEWHAT FAVORABLE, SOMEWHAT UNFAVORABLE, VERY UNFAVORABLE, OR DON’T YOU KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THE PROTESTS TO HAVE AN OPINION?

Notice how they've presented a heartwarming outline of the movement's supposed agenda, rather than simply asking what people think about the Occupy Wall Street movement. How about phrasing an approval poll on the president like this:

FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS, PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS CLAIMED TO BE WORKING TO TURN THE ECONOMY AROUND, BUT SO FAR HIS POLICIES HAVE RESULTED IN WHAT SEEMS LIKE A DEPRESSION TO MOST MIDDLE CLASS AMERICANS. IS YOUR OPINION OF THE PRESIDENT'S FAILED LEADERSHIP VERY FAVORABLE, SOMEWHAT FAVORABLE, SOMEWHAT UNFAVORABLE, VERY UNFAVORABLE, OR DO YOU NOT KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THE MOST UNQUALIFIED PRESIDENT EVER ELECTED TO COMMENT?
