Obama Tricks Stephanopoulos

Ronald Reagan rode to the presidency asking the question, "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" Four years ago isn't a literal timeframe, it's shorthand for before the president took office, which, in the case of the current president is just 2 years and 9 months ago. In an interview this week, George Stephanopoulos asked President Obama the Reagan question, and he dodged it by taking the timeframe literally.

Well, I don't think they're better off than they were four years ago. They're not better off than they were before Lehman's collapse, before the financial crisis, before this extraordinary recession that we're going through.
