Stunning Defeat for White House
We are stunned.
Chicago lost.
Some Chicagoans may be cheering, but many others, including this newspaper, enthusiastically looked forward to the Games.
And the way we lost it — dumped in the first round of voting. What was that?
And here we thought we were a contender.
White House advisers, many of them Chicago natives, had a personal stake in the Olympics bid.
