Killing the Creator
The president rewrote the preamble to the Declaration of Independence the other night, killing the Creator. You'll recall this line from the original version.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Here is the new, PC version, unveiled by the president when he was out doing the divide and conquer thing on Wednesday.
Obama said, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
The president was speaking to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus when he killed the creator. While there, he also threw in the obligatory immigration pander.
"Now, I know that many of you campaigned hard for me, and understandably you're frustrated that we have not been able to move this over the finish line yet. I am too," he told a gala dinner for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, referring to immigration reform.
The president's chances on getting something done on immigration reform might improve if he were to put forth a proposal - but, then again, maybe not.
"But let me be clear: I will not walk away from this fight. My commitment is getting this done as soon as we can. We can't keep kicking this challenge down the road."
While the forum was a good one to feign a committment to immigration reform, it was an odd place to announce that God is dead. Hispanics are religious, aren't they?
