Free Lunch for Robbed Football Team
A Boston High School team lost it's championship bid when a touchdown was called back on a controversial call a few weeks back. But he Cathedral High School team got it's payback at a lunch hosted by Mayor Tom Menino and friends.
Quarterback Matt Owens was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after he raised his arm in the air as he ran in for what would have been the team’s game-winning touchdown.
“It was very, very hurtful, you know, we understood what had just happened, but we also understood that life moves on,” said Owens.
“You’re still champions. This season was a success. I’m just here to say congratulations and be proud,” said Tedy Bruschi, former New England Patriots linebacker.
“This is a small school that graduates all of their students and all go to college and they excel on the sports field. So when you’re dealing with excellence, I just feel special being with them,” said Bobby Valentine, Red Sox manager.
