Ah, how Axelrod, Plouffe et al must long for the good old days, when people were fooled by the media hype and the power of pillow talk. Now, the president's opinion on matters of great import is of little consequence.

Barely over a third of Americans care what the president's opinion is on an issue he's been pushing for a year. Wow. And President Obama fares only a few points better than does the GOP in Congress. As you know, most Americans rate congress, no matter which party you're talking about, with the same esteem given IRS agents or kitchen rats.

The above numbers are from the Kaiser Foundation. Approval numbers for Obama hit their lowest ever this week according to Gallup, and Rasmussen reports that the president is viewed unfavorably by most voters.
Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-five percent (55%) disapprove.
