Ed Reform - Fighting Those Who Put Adults Ahead of Kids
What makes Michelle Rhee, former head of the DC schools, a school reformer? She pursues policies that put the needs of kids ahead of those of adults. She got fired for that.
We did fight very, very hard... We were pushing for a contract... that did not put adult interests above what was in the best interest of children... We created a system that was in the best interest of the children.
In other words, improving education is a fight against those who control policy now... those who put adults first. Those interests are unions and their political partners, the Democratic Party.
