Deval Still Testy, Part Two

Liberals think Capital Punishment is barbaric. After all, someone will die, and it could, hypothetically, lead to the wrong man being put to death, and that risk is unacceptable. But an occasional death doesn't seem to worry them when it comes to the high priority of letting convicted killers out of prison.

“No one is defending the outcome of this decision. I am not, the Parole Board is not — no one could. . . . A terrible, terrible thing happened here. But I also know and the public ought to know that the Parole Board is making decisions all the time and overwhelmingly they turn out right,” Patrick said, adding that he’d understand if the public has lost confidence in members.
