Joe Biden is a consumate politician. That is, more loyal than smart, and willing to say anything that results in getting people to listen. Here's Joe paying homage to George W., simply because he was asked.
"Mr. President, thank you," said Biden, addressing a hypothetical Bush. "I've known you for all eight years of your presidency, and I've never known a time when you didn't care."
Asked whether Bush deserves credit for the end of combat operations, Biden said earnestly, "You deserve a lot of credit."
In other comedy news, DNC chair Tim Kaine excused presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs' "professional left" comments of a a few weeks ago, saying he was just having a "bad day."
During Kaine's appearance on Comedy Central's "Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Stewart brought up the "professional left" comment to illustrate what Stewart characterized as "a wedge between [Washington Democrats] and their base."
