Compassionate Ones Continue Nasty Name-Calling

Last week the Republicans were terrorists for doing the standard political horsetrading over taxes. This week, they're gangsters.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) called Republicans "a bunch of gangsters" who blackmailed Democrats to ensure that the nation's wealthiest retain their tax cuts.

"If we succumb to that blackmail now, when both the middle class and the upper end tax cuts expire in two years in the middle of a presidential election, why would I expect that the president and the Congress would then have the political gumption not to submit again to the Republican blackmail and in effect make it permanent?"

Howard Dean also says that it would be bad for the party to have someone challenge Obama in his reelection bid. It all happened on Face the Nation Sunday.
