Unlike their piece on Nancy Pelosi in which we agreed with now they go back to normal with this editorial on the Republican Party. The Republican Party’s most visible triumph last week was in the House of Representatives, but the more lasting — and possibly more destructive — result was in statehouses across the country. Republicans won more than 690 new legislative seats, taking back at least 19 state chambers and 10 governor’s seats from Democrats. Republicans previously had been in full control of nine states; now they will fully control at least 20. Tell us what you think at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For years, one of the major promises of the Democrats was that they would get rid of the hated "Bush Tax Cuts". Then, they promised, they would spend the money for a whole menu of social programs. But the American people weren't fooled. They knew that getting rid of a tax cut was just the same as raising taxes. Now with the clock ticking and all the tax cuts ready to expire on January 1, the Dems are in a real pickle. Tell us what you think should be done by emailing me at email@example.com
Peggy Noonan from the Wall Street Journal has this piece on the election results. 'The people have spoken, the bastards." That would be how Democrats in the White House and on Capitol Hill are feeling. The last two years of their leadership have been rebuffed. The question for the Democratic Party: Was it worth it? Was it worth following the president and the speaker in their mad pursuit of liberal legislation the country would not, could not, like? And what will you do now? Which path will you take? With a little more than a week to go, this could be the election that gets our country back on track. It has gotten so bad for the Democrats, that the President has been forced to campaign in states like California and Washington that he carried by huge margins just two years ago, to try and save some seats. The WSJ's Peggy Noonan thinks she knows why. We think she's right. Read her excellent column and tell us what you think. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
