Boston loses a great veteran Newsman in John Henning
|
Legendary newsman and Boston TV legend John Henning passed away last night at the age of 73 due to complications from leukemia. People in and around Boston remember John and all he has done in the political field for all of the local television stations. One person who he touched was Barbara Anderson from Citizens for Limited Taxation. Here is what she had to say on the legendary John Henning. On the death of John Henning July 8, 2010 The phrase “the end of an era” was made for people like John Henning, whose presence in the Massachusetts media scene represented fair coverage of a time when politics was slightly more respectable. Throughout my thirty years of taxpayer activism at the State House, John was always there with a microphone and an important relevant question. Sometimes he was the only grown-up I saw all day except for his rival in the interview queue, Janet Wu! He is always accurately described as “nice” and “a gentleman”, yet I always found an underlying skepticism that marks the true reporter, and a willingness to express dislike of political bad behavior that marked someone with his own values. I have no idea how he voted, but we always could tell what he saw as right and wrong. John was a trusted face and voice in the Massachusetts media, and remains with us as an example of decency and fairness. Barbara Anderson Executive director, CLT |
