New England winter predictions

NOAA highlights expectations for the season

October 20, 2017 - 8:14 am

You know the saying in New England, “don’t like the weather, wait a minute.” That theory may ring more accurate than ever this winter across the region. NOAA is releasing winter predictions. New England is expected to see a warmer than average winter, but that does not mean the winter boots will stay in the closet.

It is supposed to be a La Nina winter that means near or above average snowfall. Interior sections of New England could see above average snowfall. Forecasters remind us last winter was a La Nina winter, and while it was warmer than usual, the region experienced higher than average snowfall. An update to the prediction is expected Nov. 16.
