Record low voter turnout is expected

November 07, 2017 - 7:41 am

It's Election Day, and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is seeking a second term in office today.  Walsh is being challenged by City Councilor Tito Jackson, who trailed the mayor by over 30 points in the most recent poll of the race.  Jackson faces an uphill battle, as no incumbent has lost a race for the mayor of Boston in over 70 years.  Voters will also select City Councilors in Boston. Two incumbents are not running for re-election. There are district and at large races.Turnout for today's vote is expected to be around 23 percent in the city. Polls are open until eight p.m., anyone in line at closing time being allowed to cast a ballot.
